Casa Platero, Costa de Las Tricias

a very special country-home in untouched nature of La Palma (Canary Islands)

Location :

In the Northwest of the green Canary Island La Palma (Isla Bonita), at the coast of Las Tricias, "Casa Platero" is situated in the middle of a huge (30 hectares) natural park, where apart from the wild animals like rare birds, f.e. Canary grajas, craws, pardelas (see photo below), seagulls, pigeons, ... only live donkeys and horses. The donkeys love the house and its inhabitants and will give you great companionship.

"Casa Platero" is the non plus ultra for friends of nature and animals, looking for tranquility and peace in an untouched natural environment. The house is situated very closely to and 1.000 feet above the sea and you have a fantastic panoramic view to the sea and the mountains. You won't hear nor see any road or other signs of civilization.

House and Equipment :

The holiday home is an old reformed and enlarged typical canary country home with thick walls and open canary roofs. It was remade and equipped in accordance with the high quality standards of "Turismo Rural" (ADER): traditional furniture, two big sleeping rooms with large beds and high quality mattresses, large bathroom, traditional and well equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room, where you can enjoy music in hi-fi quality or watch TV with lots of international channels (ASTRA); the terrace around the house provides comfortable wooden furniture and a barbecue-patio.

We provide WLAN-internet access 24 h flatrate for your notebook ! Only USB required !

The house is supplied with sufficient solar energy (about 1 kW from 9 squaremeters of photovoltaic area and 3,4 m2 for hot water) and might as well be switch to the public net.

Prices :

If you rent the house with 1 sleeping room (2 persons):: € 55,- / day. Each additional person pays 6,- € / day. Prices include VAT, final cleaning and all additional costs ( water, current, flatrate...).

Activities :

An old footpath (about 30 minutes) leads to "Puerto de Lomada Grande" (s. photos), an ancient natural port in a sheltered bay with ideal bathing possibilities in the sea and a natural rock basin. The coast is wild and tremendous and unknown to the tourists. You will find there just few local people for the weekends in their living caves, from where they go fishing in small boats. The water is crystal clear and submarine life is a paradise for (Scuba) divers.

Our environment also invites for beautiful walks in untouched nature for example to the famous dragon trees and caves of "Buracas" or up into the mountains.

For pilots of hanggliders and paragliders we opened a landing strip (330 x 50 ft), which now enables flying also in the north of the island with its unique flying conditions in Europe: from the highest takeoff place at the "Roque de los Muchachos" in about 7.500 ft above sea level to the landing strip at about 1.000 ft near the house there is about 6.500 ft of height difference! In addition, thermal- and hangwinds often allow nearly unlimited flight times with an unforgettable bird's perspective over mountains, forests, deep valleys and the sea.
